Hyperpigmentation

What is hyperpigmentation?

Simply put, hyperpigmentation is the result of the skin overproducing melanin. We all have cells within the skin called melanacytes. These cells are responsible for producing a substance called melanin which protect our skin from the sun. Its these cells that are responsible for giving us a tan but over time, skin damage caused by sun exposure can start to show as uneven pigmentation. Pregnancy hormones can also trigger an increase in melanin production and this most often results in brown patches on the face. This is referred to by some as 'The pregnancy mask' and can be quite distressing for some woman. The good news is, there are products available that can help reduce and even eliminate these visible signs of sun damaged skin. Of course we believe prevention is better than cure but we know a lot more than we did just a few years ago so theres no judgement here. Just know that we do bang on ALOT about the importance of wearing SPF 50 daily, so we've listed those products first!
